Meet Amanda Mogan-Wilson, Group Communications Manager, Jardine Motors Group and IAW Award Winner for 2019

Amanda joined Jardine Motors Group 15 months ago and quickly grew her remit to cover internal communications and employee engagement, employer branding, PR, social media, events, partnership and stakeholder engagement with a heavy focus on supporting the company’s CSR and D&I strategies.

Amanda helps the business to raise its profile around the diversification challenges the industry faces and drives internal communication activity through the company’s Women in JMG network, which includes a LinkedIN group and events. She is also a supporter of the Automotive 30% Club speaking at events and amplifying the Club’s activity both internally at JMG and through its external channels. This year Amanda will be focusing on her own personal development which will include taking part in the Women Ahead mentoring programme and joining Retail Week’s Leadership Academy.

Amanda explains what inspired her: “When I sat in my first Leadership Conference as a guest, I was completely captivated by the Leadership Team. I find them the most dynamic, passionate and committed group of senior business leaders, and I was totally brought into their vision; I just had to be a part of it, which included working really closely with Clare Martin, the Group HR Director, who is dedicated to changing perceptions of the industry to encourage more women into the industry. She is the most inspirational woman I know, and I’m really fortunate that I now can call her on her as a mentor and supporter as well as my boss Matt Wrigley, who every day challenges and pushes me to be the best I can. They are the reason I’m working in automotive.”

On hearing news about the award, Amanda said: “It’s unbelievable to think I’ve only been in the industry just over a year but that someone thought to nominate me for this award is crazy. I don’t consider myself inspiring to others in anyway; I just get on with doing what I love to do. However, now being part of the Top 30, I think I’m going to review what more I can do help inspire more women into the industry as well as look at sharing my experiences to mentor some of the younger women in Jardine Motors, so that we don’t lose the talent we have.”
