What we need you and your volunteers to do on LinkedIn

The Auto30Club’s #ThisGirlIsMe2025 LinkedIn Campaign will take place from Monday, 13th October to Friday, 17th October 2025.

During the week, we are asking all the women of the automotive industry to:

  1. Post a picture of themselves as a girl (either as a little girl or as a young teenager) to publish on LinkedIn
  2. To support the image, we ask them to write 250-300 words in the format of a reassuring letter or advice to their younger self, highlighting obstacles they’ve overcome, and important influences that have led them to be where they are today.

Please encourage others to join by tagging the women who inspire you to get involved. Use the hashtag #ThisGirlIsMe2025 and remember to tag the Auto30Club in your post.

Dear Girl In The Photo

I know you're a bit anxious about starting at your new school in September, away from all your junior school friends, but I can assure you that it will be the right decision to go. You're going to love it there! You'll make so many amazing friends, some of whom you'll still be close with for many years to come.

And guess what? You’re going to be able to play lots of sport! Sadly you won't be able to play football because you’re a girl, so you will have to go to watch Sheffield United with your Dad instead - and that will be an emotional roller coaster! Despite being one of the smallest girls in the year, you will make the school sports teams in hockey, netball, rounders and volleyball, and you'll even captain them. You will learn valuable life lessons about competition, resilience, teamwork and leadership. Oh, and those gaps in your teeth that you are so self-conscious about will close in a couple of years, and you will learn to focus on proving your ability rather than improving your appearance.

I promise you, attending university despite having very little money will be one of the best decisions you ever make. You'll have an incredible time there, filled with lifelong memories. Your Business Degree will prove to be incredibly useful throughout your working life.

(continued)

And here's a little secret about your future career: you're going to find your true calling in the automotive industry! It all starts when an employer comes to the university for a recruitment event. You'll impress them with your drive and determination, and they'll offer you an internship and a company car! Your friends will think it’s strange for a female graduate to want to work with cars, but you will never feel you have to conform to gender stereotypes. That internship will open doors you never even imagined, leading you down a path you'll absolutely love. You will find the kind of amazing people you like to be around within this career: ambitious, hardworking, playful, fun-loving and team-oriented.

So, take a deep breath, little one. Embrace the changes, enjoy the journey, and know that you're destined for the career that is a perfect fit for you.

How do I know all this? Because #ThisGirlIsMe. Thank you for making the choices that made me the woman I am today.

With much love and excitement for your future,
Your Older Self
