How did you feel to be nominated by your colleagues in the Inspiring Automotive Women Awards 2020 and how did it feel to be one of our winners?
I was over the moon to hear that I had been nominated as an Inspiring Automotive Woman of 2020. After a challenging year for everyone, this made all the hard work worthwhile. To hear I was one of the winners was an even bigger shock but something I am so proud of. I was delighted that my dedication to our company and my passion for my role had been acknowledged.
What is your job and what does it involve?
I work within the Jardine Motors Group Audi Division as a Marketing Executive, executing marketing activity and events across 14 Audi Centres. The role itself is dynamic, fast-paced and ever-changing in order to meet the business needs on a daily basis. I assist with managing Sales and Aftersales Campaigns to drive sales and enquiries into our business, ensure all promotions are effectively marketed across our Digital channels, and drive forward our Social media platforms to increase our Audi fan base and enquiry levels.
How long have you worked in the sector?
I began my career in the motor industry 12 years ago. During that time I have built up a wealth of experience across a number of departments within the Audi Division, the most recent being a part of the Marketing Team over the past 5 years.
What do you like best about your job?
I work alongside a fantastic team, and this really does make the world of difference. Being content and comfortable with my work colleagues, ensuring we work as a team, and learning from and guiding each other, has been so beneficial in my personal development and my day to day work ethic.
What are your future aspirations?
Being a part of the Audi family, and in particular within the Marketing Team, is a dynamic, fast-paced role, something I thrive on. Every day is different and challenging. I am enjoying continuing my journey with Audi at this stage of my career, allowing me the opportunity to continue to develop my Marketing skills and will see where the future takes me!
Can you name a woman in automotive that inspires you and why?
I will have to cheat here and name 2 women… Natalie Wheeldon (Audi Divisional Marketing Manager) and Alison Fowler (Head of Divisional Marketing for Jardine Motors Group). Natalie and Alison gave me the opportunity to work within our Marketing Team 5 years ago, and during this time I have learnt so much from them and thank them for my development over the years. Their expertise in their field and the overall passion they show in their jobs daily has inspired me from day one.
What makes you happy?
Anyone who works within a Marketing role will know we work to a lot of deadlines! Putting the time in to meet a deadline and seeing your hard work pay off in the results and appreciation from others, is always a great feeling at the end of a busy week. On a personal level, I am looking forward to growing my family this year, with my first baby due this October, this makes me very happy.
Which word or phrase do you most overuse?
‘Breathe!’… this is something myself and my Team say to each other to lighten what might be a busy day and to remember to just stop and think.
What is your worst trait?
I am an overthinker. This can work in my favour as attention to detail is key in my role, but sometimes I need to stop and believe in myself a little more.
How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who put her all into everything.
What advice would you give to women who are wanting to progress in the sector?
Listen to your instincts and never be afraid to give your opinion. I have learnt this over the years and adhering to this has aided my development in my current position.
